Beth sy’n ysbrydoli barddoniaeth? Hwyrach y gall siwrnai ei ysbrydoli. Mae’r teithiwr yn penderfynu, yn syniadol neu yn gorfforol, sut i gymryd rhan yn y siwrnai. Mae’r siwrnai yma yng Nghymru wledig yn troi i lwybr sefydlog mewn coedwig, yn gyfarwydd mewn gwlad o ddreigiau a llwybrau cudd. Mae’r awyr yn gynnes; pryfed yn pasio’n rhy agos heb gael eu sylwi.

The traveller in any setting, conceptual or physical decides how to participate in a journey.

This journey in rural Wales twists to a woodland path established, familiar in a land of dragons; mountains; secret paths. The air is warm; insects pass, too near, unnoticed; the path’s textures dance; sounds sing, sooth, enchant; the undergrowth encroaches menacing, treacherous, forbidden, unfamiliar.
Sculpted to the figure of eight, a reflective number, pure when viewed halved or inverted and a circuit. The sculpture is part lifted from the ground to commence reflection.

It is hollowed and contains balls fixed and loose. Within, the free ball can pass through the full internal circuit or leave at any valid opening: it represents the traveller. Some openings permit the ball to leave: others do not, representing the traveller’s choice to participate in the journey and their chance to see beyond the journey’s restraints if willing. The internals are dark representing the imposing nature of a necessary trip, its time constraint and burden.

Externally the organic features represent the freedom of choice; the external path is irregular, hidden, exposed and contoured, visible and accessible if only the traveller were to interconnect.

The loose, free ball can rest on or beside the sculpted 8, representing the freedom of choice, expression and control latent within any traveller, exercised or not.
